The Laboratory Technician position supports the Lubricants and Fuels operation. This position requires availability to work rotating shifts from Monday to Saturday. Responsibilities for this position include: Product Formulation* Support in the development of formulations and analysis of raw materials for formulation changes. * Maintain and update manufacturing formulations in SAP according to the Lubricants Technology Area. * Optimize formulations based on obtained results or raw material quality. Product Quality and Assurance* Responsible for quality control routine, conducting physicochemical analyses for all finished products and raw materials, releasing or rejecting them. * Perform adjustments or corrections to mixtures when necessary. * Enter mixture formulations into SAP R/3\. * Create and issue quality certificates for Finished Products. * Implement changes in existing test methods and train other Laboratory Technicians. * Commission new laboratory equipment and train staff accordingly. * Troubleshoot equipment issues. * Develop and implement initiatives for improved laboratory practices to enhance the laboratory, productivity, and staff competence. * Coordinate non-routine laboratory activities such as product stability tests, etc. * Safeguard and track raw material shelf life in accordance with corporate requirements. * Collaborate on changes related to product introduction, including label, bottle, cardboard boxes, additives, and base oils. Quality Control Processes* Monitor and ensure reliability of the quality control process through calibration of instruments, chemicals, and equipment. * Perform control sample checks for statistical analysis. * Capture / record results and execute quality-related steps in SAP\-FIORI. * Record and report release times for batch/in-process samples and other required laboratory activities such as calibrations, control sample checks, standardizations, sample testing, etc. * Monitor and ensure Quality Control activities by analyzing statistical data from process sample controls and take necessary corrective actions as required. * Generate weekly reports on batches within specifications, support analysis and management of non-conformances, mixture adjustments, and products for disposal. * Generate reports on corrective actions taken regarding identified non-conformances. * Monitor and ensure batch release times to guarantee maximum laboratory productivity. Laboratory Testing Compliance / Quality System Maintenance / Fuel Regulation Analysis* Coordinate compliance of laboratory testing with external requirements such as ASTM and standardization programs. * Monitor and ensure compliance with prescribed testing procedures. * Purchase laboratory chemicals and supplies according to prescribed procedures. * Monitor and support compliance with ISO 9000 certification. * Support analysis of government fuel regulation initiatives with potential impact on operations; (represent Chevron as a Subject Matter Expert on technical laboratory committees), and provide technical support to the fuel terminal. Adherence to HES Policies and ISO Procedures* Ensure compliance with the Company's HES principles regarding safe work practices and disposal of hazardous chemical waste. Responsible for collaborating with the HAZCOM program. * Maintain the Laboratory Safety and Health Program. * Actively participate in and conduct Safeguard Learnings (SLT), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Near Losses and Losses (NLI / LI) investigations. * Maintain and coordinate best practices and a continuous improvement culture in the laboratory. Mandatory Requirements:* Chemist with Professional Card verifiable by the Colombian Professional Council of Chemistry. * One year of experience in quality control in industry or the oil industry. * Experience and proficiency with computers and Office tools, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, others. * Leadership skills when working in a group. * Ability and willingness to lead and be led when working in a team. * Excellent communication skills. * Ability to work under pressure. * Ability to work with minimal supervision. * Analytical ability. Desirable Requirements:* Work experience in the Oil or Lubricants industry. * Intermediate\-Advanced English. * Knowledge of SAP modules (QM, Master Data, FIORI).
