Job Description Position: Design Technician (Drafter) Classification: Non\-Exempt Supervisor: Operations Manager Office Revision Date: October 2024 General Description The project drafter is responsible for preparing and coordinating solar project designs, ensuring proper management of all necessary documents and drawings at each stage of the process. Works closely with the sales team and other departments to ensure design accuracy and workflow efficiency. Core Responsibilities Creation and Review of Documents* Create and review documents in PDF format and manage assessment photographs as part of the project design process. * Interpret technical specifications and adapt drawings according to each project's requirements. * Collaborate with engineers and operations, installation, and/or assessment teams to ensure drawing accuracy and feasibility. Document Management in Zoho* Upload and update documents on the Zoho platform, ensuring appropriate progression of the case status at each design phase. Communication with Sales Team* Maintain constant communication with the sales assistant to resolve questions or make project modifications as needed. Verification of NTP Area * Verify and cross-check the Project Technical Need (NTP) area before sending the project to the sales representative, ensuring correct requirements are met. * Communicate to the Field Operations Manager any changes deemed necessary when seeking authorization to issue them. Project Design Completion* Review and update drawings based on project changes or additional requirements. * Complete the project design and update its status in Zoho so it is ready for final review. * Archive and organize drawings so they are accessible to various departments. Administrative Support* Provide occasional administrative support, including case organization and status updates. Other related duties. Minimum Job Requirements Education / Experience  Associate degree in drafting with AutoCAD preferred, or related field.  Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar position.  Experience using AutoCAD or similar software for creating technical drawings.  Basic knowledge of solar systems and their operation (desirable).  Ability to interpret technical specifications and building codes.  Ability to work in a team and collaborate with various departments.  Attention to detail and precision in creating and modifying drawings.  Prior experience in solar system design (desirable).
