This includes conducting technical assessments of new exploration opportunities in the country, executing resource development programs, collaborating with geotechnical and geometallurgical studies, geological and resource modeling, as well as prioritizing and testing geological, geochemical, and geophysical targets to make new discoveries. This role will be recognized as a specialist in their field, solving complex problems and bringing new perspectives through existing solutions. They may also perform mentoring or training functions for junior staff. **Responsibilities and key focus areas** * Gain in-depth understanding of projects and activities within the regional, national, or business unit portfolio. * Provide specialized advice to advance projects toward discovery or operational development. * Generate new follow-up opportunities and participate in the review of third-party opportunities. * Maintain a network of specialists in the discipline across industry, academia, and external R&D providers. * Implement new or improved technologies and techniques that facilitate discovery or advancement of projects/mines. * Evaluate program requirements and apply technical expertise aligned with company strategy. * Contribute to technical capability development by sharing knowledge and strengthening team skills. * Prepare technical reports for management and project teams. * Participate in strategic decision-making based on technical and resource knowledge. * Conduct technical audits of pre-feasibility resource estimates across various commodities. **What you need to be considered** * Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geoscience. * Solid knowledge of copper porphyry deposits. * Experience in exploration programs and advanced project evaluation. * Demonstrated ability to solve complex geoscience problems. * Strong collaboration skills across internal and external networks. * Focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement. * Effective communication skills in Spanish and English. * Commitment to safety, sustainability, and Rio Tinto’s core values. **About Rio Tinto** Rio Tinto is a leading global mining and materials company.
