




**Locations: Colombia only (remote)** ------------------------------------- Come join us at Odisea Cultura and work with some of the most exciting start\-ups in the US ### **The Role** Our client Entropy is looking for a Founding Software Engineer to lead the platform and architecture for an exciting new product. This is a unique opportunity to join their team as an acting CTO, to partner closely with the founder with potential to grow into a leadership position as the team grows. ### **About Entropy** Dave Hettinger, Founder \& Principal, started Entropy in 2020 to help construction industry players (e.g., owners, contractors) navigate problem projects. “Problem projects” are generally high\-risk projects that have the potential to erase most (or all) gains in a given year or quarter. Entropy has been engaged as an external advisor on dozens of projects over the last five years working with some of the largest contractors in the world. In 2023, Dave engaged an agency to develop a web\-based application, primarily as an internal tool to better serve clients—with certain updates in 2024\. Entropy plans to build on that concept with a “v2” of the platform that is more robust and designed to be used primarily by clients. The plan is to continue to offer advisory services (marketed as “tech\-enabled services”), and to build a platform that: (1\) automates a portion of those services (2\) enhances the client/customer experience ### **What You'll Do:** As the Head of Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for partnering with the founder to understand the vision and contribute to the strategy and develop the plan to modernize the product, architecting the backend to ensure adequate levels of security and scalability, ensuring the app is stable, reliable, and ready for launch. You'll work closely with the founder to: * Launch “v2” of a risk management platform built for construction * Participate in user roundtable discussions with clients to seek real\-time feedback, observe user behavior, and address pain points within a matter of weeks (i.e., a monthly cadence) * Collaborate with the Founder to develop an aggressive but realistic platform roadmap * Determine/recommend back\-end architecture and scaffolding—with an emphasis on both security (legal/IT) and flexibility (e.g., “modular” features turned on/off for certain projects) * Build out additional features, as needed, to support the platform roadmap including technologies and approaches to leveraging AI (LLM, Agents) where applicable to deliver value to clients * Ensure product development is well\-documented technically, including periodic reporting * Regular maintenance, upkeep, troubleshooting, testing, security, etc * High\-cadence collaboration in the early stages (daily async updates and frequent touchpoints as needed) **About the Platform:** * The platform will require a multi\-tenant, project\-based structure with permissions, etc. * UI/UX will be as easy to use as Harvest (www.getharvest.com), a timekeeping product * Platform data to be uploaded or ingested via email, initially—with the potential to add connectors or APIs depending on user feedback * Processing will be important (e.g., OCR, vision, AI\-enabled tagging/organization vs. parsing) * Metadata, source tracing, and/or confirming a document is "official" will be important Harvey (legal AI startup) is a good reference for security “feel” (www.harvey.ai/security (http://www.harvey.ai/security)) * ### **What We're Looking For** What matters most is your ability to actively collaborate with the Founder, be both a strategic thinker that can develop and articulate plans as well as execute on those plans by working independently, solving problems creatively, and shipping clean, quality code. **Required Skills \& Experience** * Required 10\+ years of backend experience with + **Node.js** (NestJS) + **PostgreSQL** or similar + **AWS** cloud (especially Textract, Bedrock, Cognito, etc..) + **Docker**, **GitHub Actions** * Preferred frontend experience with: **React/Next.js, TypeScript,** **Python** (FastAPI) * Nice to have: **Bedrock/Textract, Firebase** * Familiarity **with no\-code/low\-code systems (Bubble)** is a plus Experience wiring frontend* backend connections and both developing and working with APIs * Experience and excitement in orchestrating AI agents (**GitHub CoPilot**, **Cursor**, or similar) to solve complex problems and accelerate code development while ensuring quality results + Proficiency with AI\-assisted development (Copilot, Cursor, GPT/Claude) + Ability to review, validate, and improve AI\-generated code + Ability to translate requirements into PRDs AI tools can work with + Curiosity and comfort with LLM tools (Textract/Bedrock “preferred”) **Core Competencies for Success** * **Self\-Motivation \& Ownership**.
