What project we have for you Intellias is partnering with a Fortune 100, Midwest\-based industrial manufacturer to modernize and expand a suite of cloud\-based services and data products used by a global network of dealers, enterprise customers, and internal business units. Our cross\-functional teams deliver scalable APIs, event\-driven services, and analytics pipelines that power quoting, ordering, asset telemetry, diagnostics, and lifecycle support for heavy equipment in the field. What you will do * Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Scala. * Build reliable event\-processing, notification, and integration services. * Develop APIs and distributed system components in highly available environments. * Deliver scalable, fault\-tolerant solutions that provide business value. * Contribute to system architecture, technical design, and engineering decisions. * Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root\-cause analysis. * Support integration, acceptance, and quality assurance testing activities. * Maintain high software quality through testing, reviews, documentation, and best practices. * Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence within the team. * Collaborate with cross\-functional stakeholders in Agile environments. * Own services throughout their lifecycle, from design and development to deployment and production support. * Ability to provide **6 hours overlap with US Central Time (CT)** on business days (till 2 pm CT latest). What you need for this Mandatory * **3\+ years of experience with Scala** designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining backend services and distributed systems in production. * **8\+ years of software engineering experience (preferrably Java)** * **3\+ years** of experience building distributed systems using **Akka (Streams, Actors, HTTP, Persistence)** or **Apache Pekko**. * **3\+ years** of experience with **AWS** * **Strong experience designing and operating event\-driven distributed systems using technologies such as** **Kafka****,** **AWS Kinesis****, or** **equivalent messaging platforms****.** * Strong **experience** **with** functional programming concepts and libraries such as **Cats**, **Cats Effect, or ZIO.** * Hands\-on experience with **Docker**. * **Strong** **experience** with **PostgreSQL** and **SQL** query development. * Experience with **CI/CD tools** and automated deployment pipelines (preferably **GitHub Actions**) * Experience designing and operating event\-driven architectures and stream\-processing systems. * Experience with microservice architectures. * Experience working within Agile software development environments. * Strong understanding of software architecture and solution design. * Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently drive complex technical initiatives. Nice to have: * Experience with Java 17\+/21\. * Experience with Spring Boot. * Experience with Hibernate/JPA. * Experience with DynamoDB. * Experience with CloudFormation. * Experience with Flyway. * Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks. * Experience processing telemetry or event data at scale.
