Each area delivers a unique professional experience while maintaining a shared focus on innovation, collaboration, and client transformation. **Role Description** ======================= Lead the strategy, design, and execution of database migrations and synchronization to cloud environments (AWS/Azure), ensuring data integrity, consistency, and availability. Business Impact: Ensures operational continuity of critical data, minimizes risks of data loss or inconsistency, and enables scalable and secure platforms. Scope: Acts as a technical subject-matter expert in transformation and operations, coordinating with technical teams and vendors, with strong governance applied in regulated environments. **Key Responsibilities** =========================== * Define and lead the technical migration strategy for databases to the cloud, considering criticality, dependencies, size, maintenance windows, and target operational model. * Assess the current database architecture, including engines, versions, configurations, dependencies, schemas, storage, backups, replication, and high-availability mechanisms. * Design appropriate migration strategies per use case: rehost, replatform, partial refactor, homogeneous or heterogeneous migration. * Define required replication, synchronization, and CDC mechanisms to support low-downtime migrations or temporary coexistence between environments. * Ensure data integrity, consistency, traceability, and reconciliation before, during, and after migration. * Design and validate cloud database storage architecture, considering performance, capacity, scalability, resilience, encryption, and cost. * Define technical criteria for backup, restore, snapshots, retention, disaster recovery, and operational continuity. * Participate in defining cutover, fallback, rollback, and recovery testing plans. * Support optimization of performance for migrated databases, including configuration tuning, indexing, critical queries, engine parameters, and sizing. * Coordinate technically with application, infrastructure, networking, security, cloud, storage, operations teams, and vendors. * Ensure migration solutions comply with security guidelines, data governance, audit requirements, and applicable regulatory mandates for the financial sector. * Document technical decisions, procedures, runbooks, validation evidence, and acceptance criteria for handover to operations. **Key Activities** =========================== * Assess databases and define migration strategies. * Execute migrations using specialized tools. * Configure replication (DMS, GoldenGate). * Validate post-migration consistency. * Optimize performance in cloud environments. * Design backup and DRP strategies. * Automate migration processes. * Document procedures and runbooks. * Respond to critical data incidents. **Technical Skills (MANDATORY)** ================================= **Tools:** * Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL * AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL * AWS DMS, Azure DMS, GoldenGate * Oracle RAC / Data Guard, SQL Server Always On, PostgreSQL replication, MySQL replication * RMAN and backup tools * Shell, PowerShell, Python * AWS Database Migration Service, Azure Database Migration Service, Oracle GoldenGate, native backup/restore tools per database engine, RMAN, Data Pump, SQL Server backup/restore, Log shipping, Native replication **Frameworks:** * AWS Well\-Architected Framework * Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework **Technical Knowledge:** * Database migration * Replication and CDC * Data modeling * Performance tuning * Data security * High availability (RAC, AlwaysOn) * Backup and DRP * Data governance
