Prepare cold dishes. Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers to prepare dishes. Prepare cooking ingredients—for example, portioning food, chopping, and storing prior to use. Prepare and cook food. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients. Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables. Monitor food quality during meal preparation and throughout the day. Taste dishes to determine if they are cooked sufficiently. Ensure food quality and notify management of any product failing to meet specifications. Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, tables, utensils, knives, and equipment. Establish and assign workstations. Check and ensure that appliance and food temperatures are correct.
