Mentor data engineers and define technical standards We are looking for a **Lead Data Engineer** to spearhead a GCP\-based data platform initiative. This role centers on leading the design, development, and evolution of data pipelines and analytics infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, shaping a scalable and reliable data ecosystem that fuels reporting and analytics across the organization. As a technical leader, you will steer a team of data engineers, set best practices, and serve as the key technical authority on the platform. **Responsibilities** * Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of data pipelines using Dataflow on GCP * Define standards and drive the development and optimization of data models and queries in BigQuery * Oversee the design and support of reporting and analytics layers using Looker (or similar BI tooling) * Own the technical direction and evolution of the broader GCP Data Platform * Establish and enforce data governance best practices, covering access controls, data quality, lineage, and documentation across pipelines and datasets * Mentor and guide data engineers, performing code reviews and fostering technical growth within the team * Partner with cross\-functional stakeholders and leadership to translate business and data requirements into scalable technical solutions and long\-term roadmaps * Set up monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting practices to safeguard data pipeline performance and reliability * Drive technical decision\-making, assess new tools and technologies, and champion continuous improvement **Requirements** * 5\+ years of hands\-on experience in data engineering * 1\+ years of experience leading teams and owning end\-to\-end delivery of data platform initiatives * Understanding of GCP\-based data platform architecture and design patterns * Advanced proficiency in BigQuery, covering schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning at scale * Expertise in Dataflow for building and scaling batch and/or streaming data pipelines * Knowledge of Looker or equivalent BI/analytics tooling, including semantic modeling * Expert\-level skills in SQL and strong command of data engineering fundamentals (ETL/ELT, data modeling, orchestration) * Background in defining technical standards, mentoring engineers, and driving architectural decisions * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills * Fluency in Spanish with English at B2\+ level for team and cross\-functional collaboration **Nice to have** * Solid competency in data governance practices, including access management, data cataloging, and lineage * Familiarity with compliance and regulatory considerations in data platforms **We offer** * International projects with top brands * Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers * Healthcare benefits * Employee financial programs * Paid time off and sick leave * Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses * Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000\+ courses * Global career opportunities * Volunteer and community involvement opportunities * EPAM Employee Groups * Award\-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn *EPAM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
