Job Summary: This Portfolio Business Analyst role manages and consolidates the program portfolio vision, transforming demands into an organized and actionable portfolio. Key Highlights: 1. Enable timely decision-making at the program level Program Portfolio Business Analyst Role Purpose Manage and consolidate the program portfolio vision, ensuring that initiatives, projects, and evolutions from various streams are aligned, prioritized, traceable, and governed—acting as a direct extension of the Program Business Analyst (PBA). The Portfolio BA transforms multiple projects and demands into an organized, understandable, and actionable portfolio, enabling timely decision-making at the program level. Placement in Governance Model Level: Portfolio Reports directly to: Program Business Analyst (PBA) Collaborates with: Project Managers (PMs) and Team Lead Leads (TTLs) of each stream (Factory, Platform, Contingency, Subsidiaries) Strategy Directorate Technical Directorate (for impacts and dependencies) Cross-functional role without execution ownership Second-level BA governance role, reporting to the Program BA. Key Responsibilities - Portfolio Initiative Management Consolidate all program initiatives and projects Maintain clear visibility of: Active initiatives Future initiatives (Project N+1) Paused or postponed initiatives Prevent duplication and overlap across streams - Prioritization and Sequencing Support the PBA in portfolio prioritization, considering: Business value Strategic alignment Risk Technical and operational dependencies Team capacity Propose prioritization scenarios and trade-offs - Strategic Traceability Ensure traceability among: Evolution avenues Portfolio initiatives Projects and execution streams Validate that each initiative has: A clear purpose A defined sponsor Alignment with the program vision - Cross-Stream Orchestration Identify and manage cross-stream dependencies among: Capability Factory Platform Contingency Subsidiaries / external projects Escalate early warnings to the PBA when: A project negatively impacts another Execution overload or risk emerges - Direct Support to the Program BA Prepare consolidated inputs for: Program reports Governance forums Translate portfolio detail into clear executive information Escalate analysis and recommendations—not just status updates - Portfolio Governance Discipline Support definition and operation of: Portfolio intake criteria Exit criteria Initiative-level “ready” criteria Ensure discipline: Not everything enters the portfolio; not everything is prioritized simultaneously Key Deliverables: Consolidated portfolio map Prioritized initiative backlog Strategy-initiative-project traceability Portfolio dependency analysis Prioritization scenarios Executive inputs for the PBA Expected Profile: Senior Business Analyst experience Experience in programs, portfolios, or transformation Interaction with multiple teams and domains Key Competencies: Systems and strategic thinking Analytical and synthesis capability Dependency management Clear communication with business and technology stakeholders Judgment to prioritize and say “not now” - Value Delivered: Order and focus within the portfolio Reduced effort dispersion Enhanced support for Program BA decisions Clear visibility for Leadership and SteerCo Greater strategic alignment What This Role Is NOT: Not a Project Manager (PM) Not a single-project Business Analyst Not an administrative PMO Does not replace the Program BA Serves as the Program BA’s portfolio arm—the layer converting execution into program vision. - Competencies: Business Analytics (data) As a partner for IT consulting and software development, we specialize in the digital transformation of our clients in finance, insurance, and industry.
