RESPONSIBILITIES: * Build, enhance, and maintain features within a large Windows desktop application written in PowerBASIC. * Work inside a long\-standing monolithic codebase where stability, correctness, and performance are essential. * Debug and resolve complex issues in legacy code with limited modern abstractions. * Collaborate with product managers and fellow engineers to deliver features tied to real customer and revenue impact. * Safely evolve existing tax logic while ensuring compliance and system integrity. * Contribute to code reviews and technical discussions focused on precision and risk management rather than wholesale rewrites. Support ongoing feature delivery in an environment where modernization is intentionally limited. * NICE TO HAVE: * Experience with tax software, tax preparation processes, financial systems, or other regulated domains. * Familiarity with IRS\-certified platforms or compliance\-driven applications. * Knowledge of older Windows APIs or desktop frameworks. * Prior experience maintaining long\-lived commercial software products.
