It also includes loading/unloading materials, vehicle cleaning, and customer service. Main Responsibilities of a Driver: Driving and Safety: Operate the vehicle safely, observing speed limits and traffic signals. Preventive Maintenance: Check oil level, fuel level, tire pressure, and ensure interior/exterior cleanliness. Route Planning: Select optimal routes to ensure on-time delivery and avoid traffic. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Complete route sheets, mileage logs, fuel records, and cargo documentation. Cargo/Passenger Management: Supervise loading and unloading of goods, or ensure passenger comfort and safety. Incident Reporting: Report accidents, delays, or mechanical failures. Common Competencies and Requirements: Valid driver’s license (according to vehicle type). Clean driving record. Basic mechanical knowledge.
