The Level 2 Engineer is responsible for resolving complex incidents escalated from Level 1, executing scheduled changes, and participating in the implementation of technological solutions that optimize business continuity and data security. **Requirements:** * **Academic Qualification:** Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field. * 2\+ years of experience providing technical support for Linux/Unix systems. * Knowledge of: o Linux operating systems (Mandatory), Unix (Desirable). o Hypervisors: VMware, OVM, Red Hat Virtualization, AIX. o Basic office software usage (Excel, Word) for information processing. o Monitoring agent management (Desirable) – Zabbix o Backup agent management (Desirable) – Commvault o Replication agent management (Desirable) – Double Take – Carbonite o Networking fundamentals: Basic understanding of TCP/IP networks * Familiarity with ticketing tools (ITSM) and monitoring systems such as Zabbix, Nagios, or Prometheus. * Courses in Linux Fundamentals (Desirable). * Courses in Unix/Linux/OVM/AIX/Solaris Fundamentals (Desirable). * Basic knowledge of DBVisit replication management (Desirable) * Networking fundamentals: basic understanding of TCP/IP networks and how to configure network interfaces, assign IP addresses, configure routes, and troubleshoot network connectivity issues. * Familiarity with script development and automation tools to simplify repetitive tasks and improve productivity. **Responsibilities:** * **Incident and Request Management:** Diagnose and resolve second-level failures on physical and virtual servers, ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLA). * **Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:** Apply security patches (patching), kernel updates, and OS tuning. * **Storage and Network Administration:** Configure and manage file systems (LVM, NFS, SAMBA) and OS-level network connectivity (bonding, routing, internal firewalls). * **Automation:** Develop and maintain scripts for automating routine tasks and configuration deployments. * **Monitoring and Capacity Management:** Proactively monitor resource performance (CPU, RAM, Disk) and propose adjustments to prevent saturation. * **Escalation and Documentation:** Document technical procedures in the knowledge base and escalate critical issues to vendors or Level 3 engineering\. * **Specific Knowledge** * **Distributions:** Advanced expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Debian, or Ubuntu Server. * **Virtualization and Cloud:** Basic proficiency with VMware vSphere, KVM, or cloud infrastructure services (AWS/Azure/GCP). * **Core Services:** Configuration of Apache/Nginx, databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), DNS (Bind), and directory services (LDAP/Active Directory). * **Scripting:** Ability to program in Bash, Python, or Perl for system administration. * **Security:** Knowledge of server hardening, SELinux, IPTables/Firewalld, and SSL certificate management.
