Summary: This role manages the General Ledger, ensuring financial integrity and compliance, while leading and developing an accounting team to support departmental and business objectives. Description Position Purpose: Ensure the efficient and timely management of the General Ledger, guaranteeing the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the company’s financial information. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Hapag\-Lloyd accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and corporate guidelines, as well as applicable legal, regulatory, and tax requirements. As a manager, this role supports the execution of the department strategy and contributes to business objectives through effective management of resources, processes, and teams under responsibility. The position will lead, develop, and support the assigned GL team, providing guidance in the resolution of complex situations, technical questions, operational topics, and internal or escalations. We believe that every exploration is a chance to grow, and every port is a place to belong. **Your Journey, Our Horizon**OrganizationDescription Qualifications **Requirements** * **Education** **University Degree in Accounting.** **Experience** Minimum 4 years of professional experience in Accounting, Finance, **Specific Experience** Experience in the Shipping Industry is preferred. **Language Skills** Advanced level of English and Spanish. **Additional Requirements** Professional Accountant License with authorization to sign financial statements. **Leadership Experience** Minimum 2 years of experience leading teams. **Competencies** * Communication – Advanced level * Business Focus – Exceptional level * Leadership and Team Management – Advanced level * Customer Focus – Exceptional level * Teamwork – Advanced level * Drive for Results – Advanced level * Problem Solving and Analytical Skills – Exceptional level * Attention to Detail – Advanced level Responsibilities * Monitor invoice approvals, ensuring correct allocation and timely processing. * Work closely with different internal departments in the creation, confirmation, transfer, and booking of work orders. * Guide, coach, and support the Accounting team. * Act as point of contact with other accounting subsidiaries and support reconciliation processes. * Develop and implement process improvements to optimize workflows. * Prepare and consolidate monthly reporting packages. * Identify, analyze, and resolve tax and accounting matters. * Monitor and balance workload to ensure operational efficiency. * Ensure proper document retention and archiving processes according to corporate policies. * Support the team in problem\-solving and management of escalated situations. * Keep the team updated on new requirements, processes, and procedures. * Prepare reports and benchmarking analysis when required. * Provide training related to new systems, regulations, and requirements. * Ensure compliance with functional and departmental training plans. * Ensure consistent application of Hapag\-Lloyd policies in all personnel\-related actions.
